Amberlight Valley Favorites: Arizona Mountain Coffee Co.

Every town has its heart spots… the places that become more than businesses, the ones that quietly weave themselves into your story. For me, one of those places will always be Arizona Mountain Coffee Co.

With two locations—one in Show Low and one in Pinetop—this veteran-owned, family-run shop has been a backdrop for countless memories. Owners David and Heidi Brown have created something special: a space that is warm, welcoming, and just a little bit magickal.

A Personal History of Coffee + Story

I wrote my very first book (a self-care workbook, currently being re-imagined for a second release) at the Show Low location. That same cozy shop later hosted my very first book signing for The Christmas Witch. Over the years, I’ve returned again and again—for book signings, coffee dates with friends, solo writing sessions, and (let’s be honest) many, many delicious drinks.

Recently, my fab friend (and photographer) Charlotte came out to visit from Colorado, and we spent a morning snapping photos at the Pinetop location. The sunlight, the laughter, the smell of freshly brewed coffee—it felt like a little Amberlight Valley morning tucked into the real world.

The Drinks

My go-to order (and my ride-or-die recommendation for anyone who asks) is a Medium Hot Sugar-free Irish Cream Breve. It’s rich, comforting, and the perfect creative fuel. You can also order it iced or decaf—it’s still magickal.

Another favorite of mine? The London Fog with Lavender. Hot or iced, it’s like a hug in a cup—equal parts soothing and inspiring.

Someday, I dream of collaborating with David and Heidi on a special Amberlight Valley drink menu. Imagine sipping a “Starlight Lounge Latte” or “Stygian Myst Twist.” A girl can dream, right?

More Than Coffee

But Arizona Mountain Coffee Co. isn’t just about drinks. David also hosts Paint & Sip events every other Saturday, and they’re always a joy. I’ve gone with my mom, my aunt, my cousin, and friends… and every time is filled with laughter, color, and (if you ask David) my inability to follow directions. He’s a wonderfully hilarious and patient teacher, and the experience is one of my favorite local traditions.

From Real Life to Film Magick

The connection runs even deeper: the Pinetop shop will soon become the on-screen home of Highland Cow Coffee Co., a flashback location in The Christmas Witch Movie. We’ve already dropped some Highland Cow Coffee Co. merch inside the shop (a fun Easter egg for fans!), and I can’t wait to bring this space to life on film.

Most recently, I celebrated the release of The Secrets of Starlight Lake at the Pinetop location over Labor Day weekend. It was such a joy to spend the day signing books, meeting new friends, sipping my favorite breve, and soaking in the cozy energy that only this coffee shop holds.
